The TurboVote Admin Console allows you to view data related to signups on your site. The Dashboard displays aggregate data, while the User Export provides individual-level data. These statistics can help you track the success of your voter engagement efforts in real-time and even test specific tactics to determine what is working best.
Setting Up Your Account
Once your organization’s main TurboVote point of contact approves your use of the TurboVote Admin Console, you’ll receive a user authorization email from partnerships@democracy.works. Follow the instructions in this email to set up an account.
To access the Admin Console on an ongoing basis, visit admin.turbovote.org and enter your email address and password. If you have any trouble logging in, please reach out to partnerships@democracy.works.
Data Access, Usage, and Privacy
Implementation Leads receive access to the TurboVote Admin Console, and these individuals must provide written permission to grant access to other implementers. Access to the Admin Console is only granted to individual email addresses and cannot be given to group email addresses accessed by multiple users (i.e., sga@college.edu, info@nonprofit.org).
The User Export file within the Admin Console contains data on every individual who has signed up on your site. This data includes personally-identifiable information. Please refrain from sharing this file via email and limit access to your administrative dashboard accordingly. If absolutely necessary, we recommend the use of encrypted tools like Keybase.io or SendSafely to share files.
While we do not collect or share financial data or ID numbers, we recommend that you password-protect any computer onto which you have downloaded this information, and erase any copies of the downloaded data that you aren’t actively using.
For more information about our data policies, please see the TurboVote Privacy Policy.
Multi-Factor Authentication
Your TurboVote support representative will let you know if multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required for your Admin Console profile. MFA is recommended primarily for TurboVote Admin Console users who are regularly managing youth data, and for those who have complex data tracking (such as webhooks) enabled for their TurboVote sites.
Once MFA is enabled for your profile, you will be prompted to set up your MFA credentials upon your next login. Follow these steps to complete the process:
1. Navigate to the Admin Console login page.
2. Tap “Log In.” You will be prompted to download either Auth0 Guardian or Google Authenticator from the online Apple or Google stores to use for MFA. Download the authentication app of your choice to your device.
3. After downloading your authenticator app, scan the QR code shown to complete MFA setup. Tap “Trouble Scanning?” to instead use a one-time code to complete this process. (If you go this route, you will also use a one-time password every time you log in with MFA from the device you’re using to set up this login type.)
4. Once you’ve downloaded the authentication app you’d like to use, go through the steps outlined for your specific device and authentication app. Be sure to securely save your login credentials for the app, along with any other passwords or recovery codes that may be specific for the app and device you’re using.
Now you can use multi-factor authentication the next time you log in to the Admin Console!
MFA Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can I use a one-time password (OTP) generator other than Auth0 Guardian or Google Authenticator?
- Yes, you can choose to use other OTP tools, however we only support Auth0 Guardian and Google Authenticator at this time.
-
What is a Recovery or Backup Code?
- A Recovery code (or Backup code) is a unique code that is usually provided by services or sites once MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) is enabled on an account.
-
Why are recovery codes important?
- If you were to lose access to your MFA token (e.g. lost your phone, master reset, etc.), recovery codes can be used to login to your account without the code from your MFA token.
