Accessing Data

Depending on the terms of your agreement with Democracy Works, you may have access to some of the information users enter into TurboVote.

Partners can access this information by logging into the Admin Console or the TurboVote Bulk Export API.

Accessing User Information via Admin Console

When you log into the Admin Console, you’ll see a tab on the left called “User Export.” Partners with access to the User Export tab are able to view and download data associated with their TurboVote site through an embedded Metabase dashboard.

You can:

  • Sort the data in a specific column by clicking on the header
  • Filter by the date the user signed up
  • Filter by hostname if you have multiple hostnames (by entering the hostname in full manually into the filter)
  • Download filtered (or unfiltered) data as a .csv, .xlsx, and .json in the bottom right

Understanding the Data

The User Export provides the name, contact information, registration address, and mailing address (if provided) that each user entered in TurboVote during their signup.

Also included in the User Export are (when collected) a user’s birth year, language preference, and sign-up date. Referral codes allow you to track the effectiveness of a specific implementation tactic, like a tweet or email campaign, and are tracked in the “referral-code” column.

The next set of columns capture the services each user utilized within TurboVote. The final columns show a user’s email or text message notification subscription status, and their mailing subscription status.

For help interpreting the data within your user export, reference the TurboVote Data Dictionary. If you have any further questions, contact partnerships@democracy.works for assistance.
